Buon Anno!

New Year's Eve has also its traditions in Italy and one of the most widely known has to do with lenticchie. The lentils are served as a main course or a side dish at the New Year's Eve dinner to ring in the new year. The lentils symbolize money and eating them is a wish for wealth and good fortune in the new year. There are several ways to prepare lentils for New Year's celebrations, including making lentil soup or serving them alongside sausage (usually zampone, pork's leg).

Buon Anno a tutti!
