Beautiful León

León is one of the most beautiful towns in North-Western Spain and was founded in the 1st century BC by Roman soldiers serving under Caesar Augustus during the final stage of the conquest of the peninsula. Its modern name is not related ethimologically to the word 'lion' but derived from the city's Latin name Legio (literally where the legion's quarters were). The Kingdom of León (established in 910 AD) was an ancient territory with a great Dynasty of Kings that would become kings of Spain after the union with the Kingdom of Aragon.
If you happen to be there don't miss Santa María de León, a superb cathedral with stained glass and one of the oldest and largest in the world. Try to be there when the sun is streaming through. Also don't miss sipping a drink and having some tapas at one of the bars on the cathedral's plaza watching the world go by.
